With a legacy system that could no longer keep up with modern software and APIs, the client recognized the need to create a more reliable, efficient, and secure car booking platform. To overcome this challenge, GroundScope has relied on DataArt, the trusted technology partner of market leaders. Our experts automated internal and external processes, facilitated migrating legacy infrastructure to a cloud solution hosted in Azure, and ensured the system remained up-to-date based on Azure Well-Architected Review. The result is a modern, cost-effective system that has allowed GroundScope to reduce operating costs by 80% and onboard clients faster.

Migration to Azure Cloud

DataArt has made a significant contribution to GroundScope’s rapidly expanding business by providing sophisticated technical support to power the company’s booking business. Our bespoke team saw an opportunity to modernize the client’s aging legacy infrastructure with a move to cloud services. Azure Cloud was the best option to make this movement efficient, considering DataArt’s strong partnership history with Microsoft, spanning over 20 years, and its high level of compliance out-of-the-box.

As a result, we have delivered a more reliable and secure ground transportation platform for the client. Using Azure as the main cloud platform, the new system has reduced operational costs and enabled GroundScope to onboard more clients faster and provide stable and reliable service, facilitating more rapid growth in the business.

More specifically, DataArt’s new solution has reduced operating costs by 80%, simplified new release deployments, and improved fault tolerance. Besides, Azure dashboards and flexible monitoring reports have provided all the necessary information to control system availability and health. Therefore, the platform makes journey arrangements easy and stress-free for clients. Moreover, a faster onboarding process has already brought on several new high-profile clients. Our new solution also greatly speeds up integrations with additional service partners and booking providers, establishing a solid foundation for GroundScope’s long-term growth.

We're very pleased to have DataArt as a partner. Their combination of travel industry experience with technical expertise helped us achieve our goals faster and run our business much more efficiently. The new system allows us to manage and operate the business more cost-effectively and provide a faster response time to all customer booking requests. The new system makes it easier to connect with our supply chain and travel partners via an API.

Azure Well-Architected Review

After a while, during regular system monitoring by our experts, some performance issues were noticed in the provided system. To identify the root cause of these issues and improve the overall performance and status of the system, DataArt's team conducted an Azure Well-Architected Review. The Azure Well-Architected Review provides an opportunity to review the current state of the project against Microsoft’s best practices and identify improvement areas. As a result of the analysis, the team received a report with recommendations to improve the system's performance, stability, and security.

As a result of implementing most of these recommendations, the system’s stability has been significantly improved. Specifically, these recommendations have helped enhance the protection against data loss, significantly reduced the system's build time, increased the time-to-market metric, and made the backend more scalable, potentially reducing operational costs.

All these advancements have enabled GroundScope to use the system freely and without the risk of any downtime, resulting in a better experience for their clients and a more reliable service for the business. Overall, the improvements have contributed significantly to the success of the project.

The conducted Azure Well-Architected Review used a relatively small amount of our resources. At the end of the process, we were provided with a detailed review and some excellent insights into enhancements we could make to improve the performance of the system, many of which were very easy to implement.
Before the Well-Architected Review, we found ourselves improving the performance just by purchasing extra processing power from Azure. The Azure Well-Architected Review has enabled us to tackle any issue in a much more planned, structured, and cost-effective way.
