Client
Anthony Nolan is a UK-based charitable organization dedicated to saving lives. Their work revolved around the realms of blood cancer, blood disorders, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Challenge
DataArt recognized this was more than a business challenge; it was a mission to save lives. The internal processes needed to streamline and communicate more effectively with the hospitals the client collaborated with.
We set out to replace the outdated system with modern web portals, ensuring Anthony Nolan's staff could swiftly connect patients with potential donors. This was not just about efficiency; it was about hope.
We also created a new solution for external users and hospital staff to digitize communications and make finding suitable donors faster and more efficient.
Solution
DataArt was pivotal in enhancing the client's existing web portal solutions, Anthony Nolan Search and Anthony Nolan Labs, both accessible through the Anthony Nolan Active Directory and hosted on the Azure cloud.
The first solution, Anthony Nolan Search, empowers users to manage patient data, request and track international and internal donor searches, and request and track additional tests.
The second system, Anthony Nolan Labs, allows users to monitor samples and investigations performed for donors and patients.
DataArt also developed the AN Connect external system for Anthony Nolan from the ground up. This system, accessible to external users via the B2C Active Directory, enables users to oversee the entire patient journey, from registration to receiving a transplant. Like the other solutions, the AN Connect system was constructed on the Azure cloud platform.
Moreover, DataArt provided crucial technological support to enhance integration with the European Marrow Donor Information System (EMDIS), a network of bone marrow donor registries, including Anthony Nolan. These improvements facilitate the ability to search for compatible donors worldwide, request tests for donors, and reserve donors for patients.

Business Benefits
The developed internal platforms have made the work of the staff easier, resulting in increased productivity. Many tasks that previously took a significant amount of time can now be completed in just a few minutes.
Also, the development of the external portal has strengthened relationships with external partners since the partner hospitals were also involved in the evaluation and requirements-gathering processes of the systems development. And thanks to this portal, the communication between the company and its partner hospitals is expected to become easier and more streamlined, leading to even stronger partnerships.
