Client

The client is a UK rapidly growing company that provides online gift, flower, and card delivery services.

Challenge

The client faced the challenge of upgrading their existing solution better meet the needs of their expanding customer base. Their legacy platform did not allow for rapid scaling, resulting in website loading delays, particularly during peak times. This led to a decline in customer satisfaction and a decrease in the number of processed orders. The company opted to migrate their on-prem infrastructure to the cloud to address these issues and provide scalability, agility, and flexibility to its existing solution. At the same time, internal logging and event monitoring of the production system required significant improvement.

Solution

The DataArt team analyzed the client’s existing system to identify potential improvements to keep serving all customers, providing service quality and increasing software observability. Migration of the client’s infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) turned out to be the best option to meet the client’s scalability needs.

The DataArt team successfully guided the client throughout the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP), helping the in-house team create a VPN Hub in the cloud and connect all their offices and production facilities to it. All physical infrastructure previously running the company’s London office was transferred into the cloud within the set timeframe. DataArt re-hosted the client’s legacy solution in the cloud while following modern best practices and using purpose-built tools from AWS.

At the same time, the DataArt team focused on improving the observability of the client's system, including reducing alarm noise through composite alarm functionality and making Grafana, an open-source analytics visualization tool, the single source for project logging and event monitoring metrics.
