Custom Development Is Alive and Well
Alexei Miller, Executive VP at DataArt, speaks with Alex Tabb, TABB Group Partner (video interview).
Capital markets technology organizations are under more pressure than ever from investors, regulators and internal users to do more with less; but custom software development is alive and well on the Street. In fact, according to DataArt partner and EVP Alexei Miller, as market competition intensifies, more capital markets firms are focused on custom software development today than 10 years ago, as sophisticated trading strategies supported by proprietary research demand custom solutions. But in-house programmers no longer are the only game in town. While outsourcing traditionally has been a cost-cutting play, outsourcing custom software development now is more about competitive advantage and speed to market. Miller and TABB Group partner Alex Tabb discuss the buy and sell sides’ use of outsourced software development and what to look for in a coding partner.
