Client
The customer is a global investment management firm that offers a broad range of mutual funds.
Challenge
The customer wanted to launch an easy-to-use model portfolio service platform catering to the needs of financial advisors. The platform would provide advisors with innovative, cost-effective and risk-targeted investment solutions suitable for a wide range of client groups.
The customer envisioned a platform where financial professionals could create an account, select from among the available model portfolios, subscribe to the service, download advisory model data, replicate it for their respective clients on their preferred platform, and receive ongoing investment commentary. Advisors would then manage their clients’ portfolios, while the investment firm would manage and update the models.
Solution
The customer chose DataArt, a proven digital transformation and technology partner, to implement the platform. The new service would be created by leveraging the power and flexibility of AWS cloud, and DataArt’s deep experience in financial services and agile delivery process.
In designing the new application, the customer and DataArt prioritized security, scalability, high availability, cost efficiency, and ease of operations. The application leverages AWS Fargate as serverless compute for containers behind the Elastic Load Balancer for scalability and cost optimization, AWS CloudFront for content caching, and WAF to protect against web exploits. The application’s data is stored in AWS Aurora Postgres managed database encrypted with AWS Key Management Service for security and toil-free operations.
Outcomes
Working closely with the customer’s product specialists, DataArt’s experienced agile development team was able to deliver the launch-ready app in just three months. The system is compatible with models on numerous widely used investment platforms, and users can select models based on their preferred trading platform, risk profiling agency, and investment objectives. Other features include access to personalized documents to support the due diligence process, including fund suitability notes and performance reports templates.
