DeviceHive, a Free Open Source M2M Framework, to Be Made Available at 2014 AT&T Hackathon

DataArt, a custom software development firm that builds advanced solutions for select industries, announced that Artyom Astafurov, co-inventor of DeviceHive, will present the platform for use by hackers at 2014 AT&T Hackathon in Las Vegas.

On September 6-7, Astafurov will showcase DeviceHive, an open source M2M/IoT communication platform that has become a darling of the maker community and large players alike, as it makes any connected device part of the Internet of Things (IoT). DeviceHive brings a long-missing link – the communication layer – to M2M solutions that provides connectivity, management, security, and diagnostics over the Internet. The framework services a number of areas, including sensor networks, smart grid and telemetry, and will be made available to developers hacking cars and smart home devices ahead of CTIA’s Super Mobility Week.

“The AT&T Hackathon is a fantastic event, where big players and the maker community alike are experimenting with IoT,” said Artyom Astafurov, Chief Innovation Officer at DataArt and co-inventor of DeviceHive.” There is a revolution of hackathons moving from software into hardware + software. It requires more effort, so AllJoyn and DeviceHive are there to help the hackers become more productive with their hacks and spend less time on plumbing.”

The DeviceHive team supports students in studying the Internet of Things and developed several educational hardware platforms for their projects. Among other recent projects are a Blue-tooth connected wireless digital pen and several wearable technology initiatives.

The September AT&T Hackathon, which is put on by the AT&T Developer Program, is acutely focused on showcasing the latest emerging technologies, tools and services from developers in the Internet of Things space. The event will be held at the Cosmopolitan Hotel’s Chelsea Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada. Further information on the event is available at
