DataArt President Speaks at Fordham University

Eugene Goland, President of DataArt, spoke at Fordham University, the Jesuit University of New York. Goland addressed the audience as an expert on the subject of global IT, discussing offshore outsourcing as a resource to meet the growing needs of small and medium sized enterprises (SME).

In his presentation, Goland discussed the dynamics of doing business overseas, presenting the issues involved in successful project management. Goland highlighted strides being made by the Offshore Outsourcing Best Practices association (, in an effort to increase the effectiveness of the software outsourcing industry within the SME segment by facilitating knowledge exchange through a network of certified professionals and relevant industry organizations, publications and research initiatives. The lecture included a presentation of recent findings from the 2006 Vendor Selection Survey, aimed at helping SMEs select the right outsourcing vendor.

"Today's business students should understand that in order to remain competitive, SMEs need to consider outsourcing a primary activity, as important as core competence," said Goland. "Smaller companies now have the ability to leverage international talent in optimizing production and improving their competitive advantage."
