VP of Business Development, Insurance

Position Overview

DataArt is looking for an experienced VP of Business Development to lead targeted sales efforts and to develop relationships with new mid to enterprise level clients across multiple sectors but with a specific focus on the insurance industry. The candidate must be able to communicate DataArt’s unique capabilities to deliver complex and customized software solutions. Core responsibilities include creating, managing, developing, and winning a portfolio of client engagements with a focus on the insurance industry. Key targets include Insuretech and mid-tier carriers.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong, long-lasting relationships with mid-tier to enterprise level carriers as well as Insuretech firms, with a remit across the industry
  • Plan, implement, and manage sales activities and the sales pipeline to meet annual revenue targets and business goals
  • Develop and nurture business relationships resulting in engagement opportunities
  • Scope projects, shape engagements, and help define business solutions that best satisfy clients’ needs and achieve their desired business outcomes
  • Present DataArt’s unique value proposition to the top level executives of clients
  • Plan resources, organize and mobilize teams (including solution design, UX, technical, engagement management and delivery teams) throughout the complex sales cycle
  • Collaborate with DataArt’s engagement managers to ensure maximum client satisfaction and optimized revenue for DataArt
  • Understand and assist in managing and mitigating key risks through tactical plans and actions
  • Evangelize DataArt’s unique capabilities to deliver complex, leading edge, industry-specific custom software solutions through presentations and discussions, participate at events, speaking engagements and tradeshows

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience selling professional IT or software services. Should have demonstrable experience selling technology consulting and services
  • A demonstrable history of meeting and exceeding expectations (consistent top 20% performance)
  • Excellent understanding of the industry, including key players, strategies, client structures, business models, sub-verticals, needs, challenges, and key trends
  • A high level of effectiveness in shortening traditional enterprise sales cycles
  • Experience and comfortable communicating at all management levels of potential client firms, from “C” level executives to product management to IT professionals
  • Team player who is also highly self-reliant (self-managed) and self-motivated
  • Must have a strong understanding of software systems and data that are widely used in the industry
  • Knowledge of project management processes including scope definition, project plans, resource plans, budgets, and milestone identification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to think, write, and present in a logical, structured, and polished manner
  • A demonstrable strategic, creative, and analytical approach to sales with a focus on initiating and building client relationships

Additional Competencies

  • Experience working with multinational distributed teams
  • Understanding of modern IT technologies and tools
  • Business consulting experience
