DataArt Hosts Time-to-Market Executive Seminar at Harvard Club

DataArt hosted a second event in the series of Financial Technology Executive Seminars at Harvard club, dedicated to expediting time-to-market as an essential element for successful software development in capital markets. The panel, comprised of leading industry executives and moderated by Alain Sherter of The Deal magazine, drew in an impressive audience, and was followed by cocktails and networking.

All panelists agreed that assembling the right team is one of the key factors in assuring a fast vision-implementation product cycle. Alexei Miller, Executive Vice President at DataArt, noted that the team’s ability to adapt and change, to learn new ways of conducting business according to market needs are critical for mid-size companies.

The panelists were asked if outsourcing can effectively facilitate new product development, and several aspects were addressed. Alexei Miller noted that companies which view themselves as experts in sales and marketing are more likely to outsource all or parts of their R&D, while companies that view themselves as engineering/technology experts do so less often.

DataArt Hosts St. Petersburg Dialogues Symposium

Commemorating its 10 years in business, DataArt has hosted St. Petersburg Dialogues Symposium which brought together renowned international speakers from the IT industry. The Symposium, held at one of St. Petersburg historical mansions, showcased a distinguished group of prominent technologists from around the world who discussed the most imperative issues of global sourcing, innovation and technology today.

Jamie McLellan, CIO for Europe, Africa and Middle East at Ogilvy, opened the Symposium with a presentation Deploying Technology for a Global Company: Innovation and Change Management, outlining Ogilvy’s success in managing 497 offices in 125 countries supporting more than 2,300 clients, and over 14,000 employees worldwide. According to McLellan, the global challenge is managing needs & wants as well as expectations concerning IT, which in turn brings the issue of affordability and compatibility. According to McLellan, demand generation, consumerism and evolution are the key drivers for innovation.

Alexei Miller, Executive Vice President at DataArt, the host organization, described the evolution of software outsourcing industry through the prism of DataArt’s 10 year history.

This is the first even of such magnitude hosted by DataArt, and represents the company’s vision for using global resources in high end technology tasks. Participation of prominent technology executives from around the world reaffirmed that vision. The company plans to organize the Symposium annually in one of its four locations worldwide.

DataArt Opens Development Center in the Ukraine

DataArt announced expansion of its development facilities with the opening of a new R&D center at the University of Kherson, in the southern Ukraine.

The company's third development facility will handle projects in all core competencies of DataArt, including .NET and Java, and will employ over 30 engineers by the end of the year. The University of Kherson was selected for its tradition of academic excellence and advanced IT and telecommunications infrastructure. 8,000 students attend Kherson University, taught by more than 300 professors and 18 academics.

"Kherson was an ideal place for opening a sophisticated R&D center," said Michael Zaitsev, CEO of DataArt. "The enormous potential of engineering students and their thirst for challenging projects was a perfect match for DataArt's demand for skillful development force."

"By opening a facility in Kherson, DataArt took the first steps in turning the region into the Silicon Valley of the Ukraine," said Alexander Spivakovsky, Vice-Rector of Kherson University. "We are happy that our talented engineering students don't have to leave the region to find quality employment."

DataArt's engineering force has been growing at 40% a year. The office in Kherson is the second R&D office opened by DataArt in the last year. Voronezh facility grew to 50 people during that time, and the main St. Petersburg facility currently employs over 250 people.

DataArt Hosts Financial Technology Executive Breakfast at Harvard Club

DataArt hosted the first Executive Breakfast at Harvard Club of New York City, “Financial Technology: Taking Control of Execution Risks in Software Development”.

The distinguished panel comprised of leading fin. tech. executives and moderated by Phil Albinus, Editor of Waters magazine, discussed the impact of regulatory and compliance issues on software development; key risk factors in build and buy approaches, and ways of structuring IT teams and processes to address these risks.

Alexei Miller, EVP and Head of Financial Technology at DataArt, pointed that an agile approach to project management allows to retain maximum flexibility to enable compatibility with regulatory, technology and business changes.

DataArt and Microsoft Russia hold CRM seminar

DataArt and Microsoft Russia held a CRM systems seminar at DataArt's St. Petersburg R&D center, addressing the issues of developing new and optimizing existing client relationship management systems.

DataArt's Vladimir Gabriel presented options of utilizing CRM systems, outlining their functionality and effectiveness in improving the sales processes. Microsoft's Vitaliy Titov presented an overview of Microsoft's CRM system and shared success stories. DataArt's COO Mikhail Zavileysky described the practical experience of using various CRM systems and emphasized that CRM is also a powerful tool for Customer Relationship Marketing and Company Reputation Management.

DataArt has expertise with effectively utilizing existing systems (Microsoft CRM and Goldmine) and with developing custom CRM systems for its clients.
