DataArt President Contributes to New Book on Outsourcing

May 23, 2006
Eugene Goland, President of DataArt, contributed a chapter to "Six Billion Minds: Managing Outsourcing in the Global Knowledge Economy", a new book by Mark Minevich, Frank-Jurgen Richter and Faisal Hoque published in May by BTM Institute in conjunction with Aspatore Press.

A collaboration among executives and thought leaders, the book examines management challenges and innovation opportunities in light of the profound impact of globalization and the emergence of the knowledge economy. "This book tackles the subject with great insights and blunt realities from the business leaders pioneering and setting the pace of global outsourcing as the next big element of the knowledge economy."

Goland's chapter, "Outsourcing: Not Just for the Big Guys", addresses various aspects of SME outsourcing, including its drivers and inhibitors, as well as growth and maturity of SME outsourcing segment overall. The chapter concludes, "To remain competitive, SMEs will need to classify outsourcing of all non-core activities as a long-term strategic objective, and to realize that outsourcing practices must become a core competence in addition to the existing business model."

BTM Institute is the first international nonprofit organization of its kind that brings together a select group from the academic, corporate, government and thought leadership communities to address the need to manage business and technology together. Mark Minevich is a Co-Chair of BTM Institute, and serves on DataArt's Advisory Board. "I appreciate Eugene's incredible contribution and thought leadership for this book," he said. "I look forward to collaborating with Eugene on major outsourcing initiatives focused on sustainable future."
