DataArt in a new perspective

June 30, 2004
A new site for DataArt has started up and is a noteworthy event in the life of the company. This new site, which incorporates personal photo-materials of company staff, is the work of DataArt's own Design Studio. Developing the corporate site, which is one of the most difficult tasks for a company with its own design studio to undertake, took three months to complete. Michael Zavileysky, chief executive of DataArt in St. Petersburg, said, "I'm very pleased that DataArt got its new site. Even though the previous design was serving its purpose, the time for a change had come. And it's great that starting up the new site coincided with the relocation to the new office space. We also hope the new site will win some contests for our Design Studio and so continue the tradition of excellence at DataArt."

DataArt finds new home in St. Petersburg

June 28, 2004

On June 28th, DataArt finished moving into its new two-story office on Bolshoi Sampsonievski Prospect. This move is the logical continuation of persistent company growth, as DataArt has spent the last eight months expanding into two separate offices. Now, all sections of the company are working together under one roof.

DataArt is the largest tenant of the new business center and also the first settler. All 1050 square meters of the second floor are now occupied by the design studio, the 24/7 support service, developers, and offices of the company.

There is a cafe, a conference hall, and also an educational center on the ground floor. In the near future, DataArt will begin a new program that allows students to see a Software Development Company from the inside out. Annual Olympiads are planned as well.

The new phone number for DataArt is simple and easy to remember:
(812) 333 4440. The former number is working as an answering machine.

Commenting on this event, Michael Zavileysky said, "We were waiting for this change. The whole team is now gathered together in one location. This will undoubtedly simplify cooperation between departments and personal contacts inside the company. DataArt is ready to hire new employees, and we are glad we can offer them such good working conditions."

Demonstration reels provide another avenue of help for DataArt clients

June 26, 2004
DataArt is happy to report a new startup; the QA and bug-fixing procedures have been enriched with an effective tool of action tracking. Before, the problem in client-developer negotiations within the bug-fixing and testing process was to make the problem clear. Explanations often took a lot of time and did not lead to quick understanding. DataArt developers have found the solution: Provide a demonstration reel to show the actions logically to the customer.

demonstration reeldemonstration reel

Our QA engineer has found a tool that tracks and saves each action performed to a reel in Macromedia Flash. This reel shows all performed actions in the application and allows for the addition of tool tips. The result is a clear and easy guide through the application for the client. The acceptable file size is nearly 200 kb, which is comparable to a documentation pack. Showing problems and providing bug-fixing information is of great use for both the client and developer.

Always accommodating its clients with well structured and detailed manuals, DataArt's approach is to provide easily understood and complete documentation so the client feels at ease with our product. In the past, a documentation pack was the only available solution. Now we add a number of demonstration reels to make the performance easier and clearer.
