DataArt Develops Cutting-Edge Mobile Search & Push Technology for Wagumo Ltd.

March 09, 2010

March 9, 2010 – LONDON & NEW YORK- DataArt, a high-end software development company with headquarters in New York and R&D centers in Eastern Europe today announced the release of a new range of Wagumo mobile software products for London-based Wagumo Limited.

Wagumo is designed to revolutionize the way people retrieve and receive information by searching online and corporate content repositories, organizing results into meaningful groups and themes and presenting them in a dynamic and visually stunning interface on a PC or a smart phone.
DataArt has been responsible for engineering the technology for optimizing performance and building a server based infrastructure to support the mobile platform, specifically developing a mobile iPhone application to represent search results in a comprehensive and visually intuitive manner.
DataArt also developed technology for embedding Wagumo into a corporate Microsoft SharePoint server, so that when documents or data are modified, Wagumo alerts are instantly pushed to the user’s smart phone to view the change.

“We intensively researched the development community for best of breed resources to help produce our exciting range of technologies,” said David Morgan, CEO of Wagumo Ltd. “We were determined to work with people who shared our vision and excitement, who could demonstrate a breadth of innovative and first rate technical skills, and who had a track record of delivering high quality software on time. I have experienced many development teams over the years and I have been astounded by DataArt’s capabilities.” The difference between traditional search engines and Wagumo is intelligent clustering. While a search for “Apple iPad” on Google will return roughly 26.2 million results, Wagumo will present about 30 clusters of intelligent groups such as “Reviews”, “Launch” and “Accessories” which a user can select for viewing, open one of the corresponding Web sites and electronically link his own comments before e-mailing to a friend.

“Working with Wagumo allowed DataArt to perform on the cutting edge of mobile technologies,” said Dmitry Bagrov, Senior VP of European Business Development at DataArt. “It’s gratifying to work with a young company which has truly innovative products and a clear vision for their implementation.” The first commercial version of the software for iPhone will be available in a few weeks, with versions for other smart phones to follow. Corporate customers may obtain Wagumo through reseller channels.

DataArt and MP Capital Announce Strategic Partnership

February 04, 2010

Software development firm and financial consultancy join forces to deliver end-to-end technology solutions to EMEA clients

NEW YORK, February 4, 2010 – DataArt, a high-end software development company with headquarters in New York and R&D centers in Eastern Europe, and MP Capital, a London, UK based financial services consultancy, today announced that they formed a strategic partnership.

The partnership aims to deliver end-to-end technology solutions to the capital markets industry in EMEA and brings together the best of two worlds: global software engineering capabilities of DataArt, strengthened by years of delivering complex systems to capital markets clients, and an exceptionally strong team at MP Capital, focused on consulting, requirements, architecture and business process optimization.

The partnership enables an experienced near shoring capability to meet the demands of the financial services sector. The combined service offering focuses on front, middle and back office solutions and already has a track record serving the most demanding clients on buy- and sell-side, including alternative asset managers and world-leading investment banks.

DataArt has long advocated multi-sourcing: a practice where clients pick the best vendors from the market based on their expertise in a particular task,” said Alexei Miller, Executive Vice President of DataArt. “Having two leading vendors establish an efficient direct working relationship makes it easier and, ultimately, more efficient for clients to work with both companies’ resources. We have been very impressed with the deep domain expertise, leadership and innovation that MP Capital teams have shown on our joint projects and are looking forward to a successful partnership.”
Jointly, MP Capital and DataArt have the capability to take on projects very early in the process, often at the idea stage, and support it all the way through business case, requirements, design, development, QA and deployment. Given the fast changing environment at many financial institutions, MP Capital and DataArt will have access to each other’s pools of resources to quickly address evolving client needs that often require a combination of domain consulting and software skills, such as extending systems to support new security classes or introducing complex analytical domain-specific calculations.

“The strategy to combine resources through the partnership was in direct response to our clients’ demands, as two things were evident: the post economic crisis caused an increased focus on banks to deliver upon strategies quickly and without the burden of heavy investment in infrastructure and resources; and outsourcing within specialist areas of banking generally underperformed,” said Manish Patel, CEO of MP Capital.

MP Capital and DataArt have been working together on client projects for the past 12 months and tested the relationship to assure that the resources and respective business cultures were compatible to bring their services to the market jointly.

Setel Selects DataArt to Build First Application for Mobile ‘Low-Rate’ International Calling

December 08, 2009

Deep-Domain Expertise Vital for Developing Unique, Cost-Saving Application

New York / London, December 8, 2009 -- DataArt, a high-end software development company headquartered in New York with R&D centers in Eastern Europe, today announced it has developed a unique long-distance calling application for innovative UK based communications provider, Setel. Designed to reduce costs for international and satellite calling, the application is the first to let users call globally from mobile devices, with the same number and for the same cost as dialing via their fixed line carrier. Setel selected DataArt for this engagement because of its deep expertise in mobile application development.

Setel serves multinational clients in the shipping and maritime sectors where there’s high demand for reliable, cost-efficient international and satellite calls. The application DataArt developed enables Setel customers to make those calls as easily and affordably as a local one. Users can bypass the costs of using incumbent mobile operators and the hassle of phone cards and international codes. Setel is the only company offering this.

“The mobile application DataArt developed delivers a reliable, high-quality calling platform, with the ease of dialing locally from any geographic region,” said Sebastian Moore, Setel owner. “Our shipping customers rely on mobile communication to stay connected - whether they’re on land or at sea. The degree of accessibility that this application provides easily enables that.”

“With mobile quickly becoming the chosen communication medium among today’s businesses, demand for versatile global calling and mobile application development is growing exponentially,” said Denis Margolin, DataArt’s mobile practice leader. “DataArt’s deep mobile expertise enables Setel to further build upon the high-quality calling experience for its customers, cementing its role as an industry pioneer.”

Deployed to 1000 users in London in June, the product will be launched throughout Europe, the Far East and the Americas within the coming months.

DataArt Makes Turn-By-Turn Navigation on iPod touch a Reality; Develops New Application for iPhone

November 16, 2009

LBS Expertise Makes DataArt a “Natural Choice” for Developing Mobile Application, Enabled by Advanced Technologies from GeoLife and PosiMotion

NEW YORK, November 16, 2009 – In an industry first, DataArt, a high-end software development company with headquarters in New York and R&D centers in Eastern Europe, announced today that it has completed back-end development of GeoLife’s Navmii turn-by-turn navigation application for the iPod touch. While such applications are already available for the iPhone, Navmii is the first to bring GPS navigation with smart routing, interactive maps and spoken directions to the iPod touch. Navmii for iPhone and the iPod touch will be available in the U.S. this winter.

DataArt matched GeoLife’s Navmii software with PosiMotion’s G-Fi mobile network / GPS router to develop the application, which is now available on the Apple iTunes App Store. The new application uses G-Fi’s satellite GPS for more accurate positioning than standard cellular or Bluetooth triangulation.

“Outside of a GPS manufacturer, it’s very hard – and rare – to find the type of technical expertise in an outsourcing company that’s needed for this type of application,” said Peter Atalla, CEO of GeoLife. “DataArt’s deep expertise in both navigation and LBS technologies made them a natural choice. We’ve worked with DataArt for more than two years on similar projects that required rapid delivery and have consistently been impressed with the level of innovation.”

“Location based services are increasingly playing a role in the mobile sector,” said Eugene Goland, president of DataArt. “Navmii is a leap forward for these technologies, and DataArt plans to further establish itself as a vendor of choice for developing mobile software solutions.”

Navmii will be available in the U.S. for the iPod touch and iPhone within the coming months and is currently available in the UK. iPod touch users will require both Navmii and G-Fi.
