DataArt attended the annual gala dinner of the American Chamber of Commerce in St. Petersburg, Russia.
March 02, 2004The meeting featured a constellation of top Russian and foreign officials, including St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Chairman Vadim Tulpanov, St. Petersburg Vice Governor Mikhail Oseyevsky, Leningrad Oblast Legislative Assembly Chairman Kirill Polyakov, U.S. Consul General Morris Hughes, and Consul General of Canada Anna Byolik. In his keynote address, Mr. Tulpanov stressed the importance of attracting foreign investments to the region, and promised that the city authorities would speed up the review process of investment proposals with a target of no more than 14 days.
AmCham St. Petersburg Executive Director Elena Berezantseva's speech focused on the accomplishments of the Chamber. Not only was 2003 a landmark year for the city, she said, it was also a year of unprecedented growth for AmCham St. Petersburg Chapter, which posted a remarkable 19% increase in membership. Many member companies enjoyed substantial success in 2003: new products launched, mergers completed, new initiatives announced and donations made to charity.
