About DataArt:Company OverviewHistory of DataArtManagement Team

Mikhail Zavileysky (COO)

Mikhail Zavileysky Mikhail Zavileysky has been Chief Operations Officer of DataArt since the company's inception in 1997. Under his direction, DataArt acquired its driving force - an outstanding team of managers and software developers. Mikhail's foresight and ability to recognize the fact that the company's success lies in valuing each individual have fostered an environment where the impersonal values of a market economy have given way to the human values defining DataArt.

Strategy

Zavileysky is responsible for implementing decisions of DataArt's Board of Directors, of which he has been a member since 1998. Under his direction, DataArt took important steps which proved to be the key to surviving the crisis of the late 90s. As a result, DataArt retained its employees, and sustained earnings growth for eight consecutive quarters.

He introduced the idea of a knowledge ecosystem at DataArt, which encompasses all spheres of the company's activities and allows for effective policies in working with subcontractors and educational institutions, as well as managing human resources.

Management

As a chief executive in a 150+ people company, he sees his main goal as identifying and managing risks. Zavileysky is responsible for creating the company's human resources policy, which is founded on recognizing the value of each employee. This perspective has encouraged the creation of a horizontal management hierarchy within the company. Another positive result of Mikhail's innovative thinking is the expansion of the company's workforce to four times its size since 2001. In 2004 DataArt was voted the Best employer in the Russian IT sector.

Education

Zavileysky is an MBA candidate at the Stockholm School of Economics, where he recently completed a prestigious "Branding - Corporate Religion" program. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Physics from the prestigious St. Petersburg State University, and has graduated with honors from St. Petersburg high school No. 45, specializing in Physics and Math.

Publications:

Zavileysky often writes on the subject of IT being the enabling tool for the efficiency of business and corporate management.

He is a frequent speaker at international IT conferences.
