DataArt Holiday Party Welcomes Clients and Friends
December 15, 2006DataArt celebrated the holiday season with its traditional caviar party on December 14th. New York executive team welcomed friends and clients of DataArt in a private midtown lounge overlooking Manhattan skyline.
Amidst holiday cheer, Eugene Goland discussed DataArt’s plans for the New Year with members of the company’s Advisory Board - Mark Minevich, Anatoly Altshuler and Michael Lazar. Michael Zaitsev shared industry news with Elena Pevzner of Standard & Poor’s, and Shawn Cohen and Steven Williams of Value Line. Alexei Miller caught up with new and old clients, Jason Klein and Artie Lusher of BNP Paribas, and Ben Irvine of Octopus Networking; and welcomed Peter Schaffer of Avenue Capital Group.
Vica Vinogradova was glad to find out that she and Gregg Riedel of MTV had mutual friends. Marina Kolesnik and Alexei Miller talked about potential partnership with Steve Lobosco of Verrazano Consulting. Alexey Utkin and Roman Chernyshev of DataArt’s St. Petersburg office discussed the latest technology with Dmitry Tchikatilov of Microsoft and James Martin of Optima Fund Management. And even though Eugene Baron, a new client (Passlogix), arrived at the close of the party, there was plenty of caviar and home-made Russian food to please everyone. The party was a success, and lasted well past the announced hour.

DataArt Completes Upsidecard.com, the Online Portal for a Teen Prepaid Card, for Plastyc, Inc.
December 06, 2006DataArt announced completion of Upsidecard.com, a revolutionary financial online tool for teens and students, envisioned and owned by Plastyc Inc. The Upside is a Visa® prepaid card, loadable via the Internet or cell phone.
Plastyc Inc. approached DataArt earlier this year to create a new kind of online financial portal which would allow parents to deposit money online, provide teenagers with customized cards and online card management accompanied with a variety of loyalty programs, and allow parents full control of teens’ spending details.
Upsidecard.com is built with three-tier architecture on .NET 2.0 and MS SQL 2005, with AJAX technology used for the user interface. The advantage of this approach is asynchronous data exchange with the server that results in short site response time. The user interface written in Javascript has numerous features that are usually available only in desktop applications, such as movable and resizable windows and skins support. Each user can customize his dashboard and the portal will remember the settings, making Upsidecard.com interface more attractive for its fastidious audience – teenagers.
Upsidecard.com allows for instant scalability, a crucial component in such undertakings. It was built on the Network Load Balancing cluster and tested on Microsoft Internet Explorer 5-7, Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and 2.0, and on the latest version of the Safari browser. Sensitive data in the database is protected with Triple-DES strong encryption with secure hardware keys storage.
The Portal interacts with Card Processor system through a special encrypted interface over the Internet. All the traffic is encrypted, with both client and server certificates applied for high-security authentication. Additionally, IP-filtering is applied on both sides. The portal has an additional WAP front-end that’s built on the .NET 2.0 mobile controls and relies on the same basic application layers. The WAP site provides a limited version of the Web site functionality, allowing viewing on-line statement and suspending the card from a cell phone.
Patrice Peyret, the CEO of Plastyc Inc. and one of the masterminds behind Upside, is known for successful online projects, such as Mobile 365, the largest independent SMS network which was recently acquired by Sybase.

December 01, 2006Michael Lazar, Vice President of Customer Advocacy at Network Physics, has joined DataArt’s Board of Advisors. Lazar leads Network Physics efforts in developing successful relationships with systems integrators, service providers and the company's primary target market, Fortune 1000 enterprise customers.
"Michael brings with him a depth of customer-oriented experience and will help us streamline our customer-centric marketing and delivery activities," said Eugene Goland, DataArt President. "We are very proud of this new addition to our Advisory Board".
Prior to joining Network Physics, Lazar served as Vice President of Technology and Development at Datatec, a leading developer of large scale, complex information technology deployment and customer care solutions. Lazar was responsible for creating the company's technology roadmap and software. He was also responsible for the delivery of key relationships with Cisco and AT&T. Lazar holds a B.S. in Physics from Queens College.
