DataArt Sponsors “Children of St. Petersburg” Benefit Exhibit in St. Petersburg, Russia
September 28, 2006DataArt participated as a sponsor of the “Children of St. Petersburg” benefit exhibit and auction at the Museum of Russian History in St. Petersburg, Russia. The event was organized by the Russian American Business Development Association (RABDA) and FeelGood (a student group from St. Petersburg State University) in order to raise much needed funding for local charities helping underprivileged children.
The event was coordinated in conjunction with the Russian Children’s Welfare Society (RCWS), an organization established in 1926 that focuses their efforts on assisting children in Russia. RCWS aid is directed at supporting orphanages and homeless shelters, medical care and the training of Russian doctors, rehabilitation centers for the disabled or mentally challenged, educational scholarships, and a yearly holiday party in Moscow for over 2,000 children. Partner organizations of the RCWS in St. Petresburg such as the “Our Help” Rehabilitation Center, Nikolski Orphanage, and All-Russian Infectious Disease Hospital in St. Petersburg are the beneficiaries of funds raised by the evening.

DataArt Releases Version 1.4 of Charting Solution for Microsoft® .NET
September 26, 2006DataArt released a new version of NETChart for Microsoft .NET Framework, a powerful full featured charting solution for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET. The release is completely dedicated to Microsoft WinForms.NET support, unavailable in the previous version of the component library. The solution now covers both commercially used platforms from Microsoft (Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0) and both ASP.NET and WinForms.NET technologies.
DataArt’s upgraded version features improved data presentation quality (date and time-based series rendering), vertical and horizontal axis label support, side by side installation of components for different versions of Microsoft .NET frameworks, redistributable merge module for Windows installer and an advanced series marker shape control. Based on user feedback, DataArt enhanced quality product features such as rendering quality, text anti-aliasing control, chart printing and printing preview.

September 21, 2006Eugene Goland, President of DataArt, spoke at Fordham University, the Jesuit University of New York. Goland addressed the audience as an expert on the subject of global IT, discussing offshore outsourcing as a resource to meet the growing needs of small and medium sized enterprises (SME).
In his presentation, Goland discussed the dynamics of doing business overseas, presenting the issues involved in successful project management. Goland highlighted strides being made by the Offshore Outsourcing Best Practices association (oobp.org), in an effort to increase the effectiveness of the software outsourcing industry within the SME segment by facilitating knowledge exchange through a network of certified professionals and relevant industry organizations, publications and research initiatives. The lecture included a presentation of recent findings from the 2006 Vendor Selection Survey, aimed at helping SMEs select the right outsourcing vendor.
"Today's business students should understand that in order to remain competitive, SMEs need to consider outsourcing a primary activity, as important as core competence," said Goland. "Smaller companies now have the ability to leverage international talent in optimizing production and improving their competitive advantage."
